Cala Violina
Located between the cities of Follonica and Punta Ala within the Bandite di Scarlino nature reserve is the most beautiful beach in the Tuscan Maremma, the famous Cala Violina. This bay is bathed by the clear waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea with a dense expanse of Mediterranean scrub behind it. This natural site can only be reached on foot or by bicycle following a marked path inside the pine forest. The beach is devoid of services and establishments so as to protect its natural and wild aspect.
Cala Violina owes its particular name to a specific characteristic linked to the sand which, rich in quartz, emits, walking on it, a sound that recalls that of the violin. Not far from this beach there are two other equally beautiful and wild bays: Cala Martina and Cala Civette.
